Most people must have withdrawn money from ATM, but do you know that now such an ATM has come from which rice will come out. Odisha’s Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Minister Krishna Chandra Patra has launched the country’s first Rice ATM.
Let us tell you that with the help of Rice ATM, ration card holders will be able to withdraw 25 kg of rice at a time. For this, they will have to enter their ration card number on this machine. Also, it includes biometric process, only after which people will be able to withdraw rice from this ATM.
Get rid of fraud
According to the state’s Food Supply Minister Patra, Rice ATM has been tested for ration card beneficiaries. This is the first Rice ATM in the country. According to the minister, if it is successful, then in the coming days, similar Rice ATMs will be installed in the district headquarters across the state. So that the beneficiaries can get rice in the correct weight. People will no longer have to stand in long queues to get rice. At the same time, possible fraud can also be avoided. With the arrival of this ATM, there will also be relief from fraudulent ration dealers.
Launched in Bhubaneswar
At present, Rice ATM has been started from Bhubaneswar. Rice ATM has been launched on a pilot basis. Going forward, there is a plan to open it in all 30 districts of the state. At the same time, if successful, this model can also be included in the One Nation One Ration Card scheme in other states. In 2021, the Odisha government signed agreements with the World Food Program. These agreements include projects implementing distribution systems, paddy procurement, grain ATMs and smart mobile storage units.
